Regional Qualifiers

Please find entry forms below for the Countryside Challenge and Dressage Qualifier competitions at Clwyd Special Riding Centre May 2017.

Due to very small numbers of riders show jumping at Level 2 and above, the North Wales Region won’t hold a Show Jumping Qualifier this year.If you have riders who would like to qualify for Hartpury for level 2 and above then please let me know asap so that we can arrange a visit to the Group by a show jumping rep, to enable them to judge riders’ appropriate level.

If you receive this email and are not part of a Group, but would like to volunteer to help on the day as a steward or ground crew member then please get in touch with me, it would be great to have your help!

To All Groups:

All entries must be received by April 7th, with accompanying payment (£15 per entrant) so that riders’ times can be worked out at the centre. Entries may not be accepted after this date.

Any queries about classes can be directed to Alys by email rdanwaleschair@outlook.com or by texting or ringing 0775 211 0825 if you need a quicker response.

Please telephone Barbara Himsworth on 07933 72 51 07 from the 24th April to 27th April, between the hours of 4pm to 7pm, to receive your riders’ qualifier times.

There is a weight limit of 13.5 stone for the Qualifiers, due to weight limits set on the horses we hire for the competitions.

PLEASE NOTE: All riders who qualify at Regional level and wish to compete at the Nationals must bring payment for Hartpury entry fees with them on the day of the Regional round. Please don’t leave the centre until you’ve filled in the entry forms with a Regional representative.

The Region cannot guarantee that riders will be able to ride the same horse they qualified on at Regional level for the National Championships at Hartpury. Horses will need to be borrowed or hired from other venues for some riders so please ensure your Group’s riders must understand this before the Regional competitions to avoid disappointment. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding this.

Regional Round Up!

North Wales Region

Firstly Liz and I would like to say congratulations to all our participants and volunteers who took part at Hartpury again this year, competing at such an inspiring event. 26 people entered Countryside Challenge, Dressage, Show Jumping and Carriage Driving classes using 4 horses from the Clwyd Special Riding Centre, and thanks go to all our volunteers and to the staff at the centre for the hard work involved to make it all happen. Our vaulting team borrowed a horse from Berwickshire RDA who kindly allowed the team to compete, and win first place in their class, despite the lack of a suitable vaulting horse in the region.1

Carriage Driving

Toni Lowe qualified for the National Championships at Hartpury, she was presented with the North Wales shield, at the National Championships she represented our Wrexham Driving Group driving CSRC’s pony Hamilton, Toni drove brilliantly and came 2nd in the Novice class of the three phase event consisting of a dressage test and cones course in the morning and two timed obstacles to be driven in sequence in the afternoon.

Our Wrexham Group RDA team accompanying Toni who made this possible were John Challoner, Ann Connolly, Colin Booth, Janet Williams and Jackie Ferguson.
